Mimi Dolly Guli – A Journey of Many Hearts

Part 9 – Beyond One Rescue

Mimi Dolly Guli’s journey is only one story.

Behind her story lies a much bigger vision.

CatsHope™ was founded on a simple belief:

Every cat deserves the opportunity to live a safe, healthy and loved life.

Over the years, however, we came to realise that rescuing abandoned cats is only one part of the solution.

If we truly hope to reduce the number of abandoned cats, we must also support the people who care for them.

Many cats are not abandoned because they are no longer loved.

They are abandoned because their owners become overwhelmed.

Unexpected veterinary bills.

The rising cost of food, litter and daily care.

Loss of employment.

Family crises.

Medical emergencies.

Caregiver burnout.

A lack of knowledge.

A lack of practical support.

Sometimes people feel they have nowhere to turn.

Sometimes they believe surrendering or abandoning a beloved cat is their only remaining option.

CatsHope™ hopes to change that.

Our vision is not simply to rescue abandoned cats.

Our vision is to build a support system that helps prevent abandonment in the first place.

We hope to create a community where adopters, fosterers, caregivers, owners and volunteers are supported with knowledge, practical assistance and encouragement throughout their journey.

Over time, CatsHope™ hopes to develop programmes that include:

  • A registered network of fosterers providing temporary homes for rescued cats.
  • Guidance and mentoring for first-time adopters.
  • Practical support for caregivers, colony feeders and community rescuers.
  • Support for owners facing temporary hardship so that families can remain together whenever possible.
  • Food support and essential supply programmes.
  • Veterinary assistance initiatives, subject to available resources and funding.
  • Educational articles, books and practical rescue guides.
  • Volunteer opportunities for people wishing to contribute their time, skills or experience.
  • Partnerships with veterinary clinics, businesses, sponsors and organisations that share our vision of improving cat welfare.

Not everyone can foster.

Not everyone can adopt.

Not everyone can volunteer every week.

But everyone has something they can contribute.

Some people share knowledge.

Some donate food.

Some contribute towards medical care.

Some offer transport.

Some volunteer their time.

Some simply encourage another person who is trying to do the right thing.

Every act of kindness matters.

Every act of support strengthens the community.

Every act of compassion helps another cat.

That is the future CatsHope™ hopes to build.

A future where people are never left to struggle alone.

Where support is available before a crisis becomes an abandonment.

Where knowledge gives confidence.

Where confidence inspires action.

Where communities work together to improve the lives of both cats and the people who care for them.

Because sometimes the greatest rescue is not rescuing another abandoned cat.

Sometimes the greatest rescue is helping a family stay together.

That is why CatsHope™ shares stories.

That is why we publish books.

That is why we openly share both our successes and our setbacks.

Every story has the potential to educate.

Every lesson has the potential to inspire.

Every reader has the potential to become the next adopter, fosterer, volunteer, donor or advocate.
