In the Celestial Cat-Dragons of CatsHope™, Goldie takes the form of a Tianlu of the Houses of Tianlu and Simmons. Her celestial identity reflects the watchfulness, strength and protective nature we have come to know.

Goldie’s imagined guardian form honours a cat who once needed protection herself and who now brings a steady presence to the family around her.

Goldie Tianlu - A Divine Beast

Goldie TianLu –
Simply Divine

She has lived in many places
but belonged to none.

Carried from hand to hand,
from door to door—
a life passed along
like something
no one meant to keep.

She learned early
that safety does not stay,
that warmth can disappear overnight,
that trust
is something that must be rationed.

And still—

she remained.

About Goldie

Arrival

Goldie arrived at CatsHope™ on 24 May 2024, estimated to be three years old.

It was already a demanding period of rescue work. There were ongoing hoarding cases, daily checks on cats, and coordination with CWS and SPCA. Other rescues were also underway, including Cherry and Chester.

Goldie was among the pedigree-looking cats wandering a residential landing, without consistent care or a safe place to settle. Then she fell ill.

The cat flu took hold quickly. Her condition deteriorated until we feared she might not survive. She was taken to the vet and brought into our care.

Early Life

Goldie had been passed from home to home.

Crowded conditions, competition for food and the absence of a lasting home had shaped the way she responded to others.

She arrived weak, unwell and defensive. Her recovery took time.

But she responded to care.

With treatment and consistency, her strength began to return.

Goldie could not join the other cats immediately.

At first, she needed to be housed separately in a cage while she recovered. Alongside the flu, she had a severe ear infection that took time to diagnose and treat.

She would sometimes lunge forward, using movement and noise to keep other cats away. Pain and fear were part of what we were seeing.

The flu eased, but her ear infection lingered. With treatment, a managed diet and consistent care, her condition gradually improved. She was later sterilised.

It took months before she could be introduced slowly to the others.

Finding Her Place

As Goldie recovered, she began making her own efforts to join the group.

She moved closer, stayed longer and gradually became more comfortable around the other cats. She could remain nearby without immediately driving someone away. She began to settle where she had once stayed on guard.

Over time, she was accepted.

Her strength remained, but we began to see more of the cat beneath her defences — a cat capable of companionship, patience and trust.

Personality

Goldie is watchful and protective.

She can be calm and accommodating within the group, while remaining ready to stand her ground when she feels threatened.

There is something of a guard dog in her attentiveness. She notices movement, follows changes around her and is willing to step forward. As she has become more secure, her gentler side has had room to emerge.

Catitude

Goldie has opinions, and she knows how to make them known.

Where she once reacted quickly, she has become more measured. She may hold her place quietly or give a firm warning when another cat comes too close.

She has also become a steady presence within the group. We have watched her step between cats when tension rises and stay nearby as things settle.

She does not need to be the loudest to be noticed.

Appearance

Goldie has the appearance of a Siberian-type cat.

Her full, layered coat gives her a soft, rounded outline. Her expressive face and alert posture reveal how closely she watches her surroundings.

Even when she is resting, there is a watchfulness about her. She often seems to notice us before we notice her looking.

Role in CatsHope™

Goldie represents the patient work of recovery.

Her journey reminds us that bringing a cat to safety is only the beginning. Treatment, daily care and time all played a part in helping her become comfortable enough to live alongside others.

She also brings a protective presence to the family. The strength she once needed to defend herself is still there, alongside a growing capacity for companionship.

Current Life

Goldie now lives as an integrated member of the CatsHope™ family. She has familiar companions, consistent care and a place where she can settle. She remains alert and strong-willed, but she no longer has to meet every approach with a warning.

After so many unsettled places, Goldie has a home.

We Bleed Too

They walk the same ground we do.
Breathe the same air.
Live under the same sky.

They speak.
They think.
They feel.
They bleed—just the same.

Citizens of this world—
only unheard.

Goldie’s Story

The life before she arrived

She did not begin here.

Not in safety.
Not in care.
Not in a place where she was meant to stay.

She moved from home to home—
never settling,
never certain,
never held long enough to belong.

There were too many cats.
Too little food.
Too many reasons to fight.

So she learned.

To defend.
To push forward.
To survive.

She carried it all with her—
in her body,
in her reactions,
in the way she fought,
and in the way she later tried, so carefully, to stay.

This is the story of what came before.

And how a cat who was given away
again and again…
became the one who chose not to leave.
