“Buddy, Story of a Lonely Cat”
Before Mimi Dolly Guli, there was Buddy. His story would quietly change more lives than anyone could have imagined. This is the story of a lonely cat who lived in Singapore’s Tiong Bahru Park until one act of compassion changed his life forever.

Mimi Dolly Guli – A Journey of Many Hearts
Part 8 – The Ripple Effect of Compassion
People often think that rescue stories are written to tell the story of a cat.
Sometimes they are.
But sometimes the greatest story is not how a rescued cat changes its own life.
It is how that cat changes the lives of the people who cross its path.
Long before Mimi Dolly Guli entered our lives, another rescued cat had already begun quietly changing hearts.
His name was Buddy.
Through the book about Buddy, his photographs and his story, Buddy introduced readers to the world of rescued cats—not as statistics or sad cases, but as individuals with unique personalities, hopes and fears.
One of those readers was Tracy.
Like many people, Tracy had imagined that one day she would share her home with a pedigree cat, perhaps a Russian Blue or a British Shorthair.
There is nothing wrong with admiring pedigree cats.
But after reading Buddy’s story, something changed.
Instead of asking herself what breed she wanted, she began asking a different question.
Could she help a cat that needed a home?
Buddy’s story touched her deeply.
She found herself in tears.
She began joining rescue forums.
She started feeding stray cats in her neighbourhood.
She wanted to understand the lives of cats that most people simply walked past.
She wanted to make a difference.
Eventually she met Donut.
Although she had never owned a cat before, she made the courageous decision to adopt her first rescued cat through CatsHope™.
Like many first-time adopters, Tracy was filled with questions.
Would she know what to do?
Would she recognise when something was wrong?
Would she be able to give a rescued cat the life it deserved?
With guidance, encouragement and support, those fears slowly gave way to confidence.
Donut settled into her new home.
Tracy discovered that rescue was not something to fear.
It was something to embrace.
Then came Mimi Dolly Guli.
When Tracy learnt that a young rescued cat had nowhere to go, she stepped forward once again.
She had never met Mimi Dolly Guli.
She had never visited her.
She had never even held her.
Yet she was prepared to open both her heart and her home to a cat she knew only through trust.
She asked CatsHope™ to first rehabilitate Mimi Dolly Guli—to ensure she was healthy, litter-trained, behaviourally ready for a home, screened for infectious diseases and cared for should any medical issues arise before adoption.
Neither Tracy nor CatsHope™ imagined the unexpected challenges that would follow.
Yet Tracy never walked away.
Even when Mimi Dolly Guli later required further veterinary treatment and a 21-day stay at the veterinary clinic following her second vaccination, Tracy remained committed.
The little kitten she had never met had become part of her family.
Looking back today, it is remarkable how much changed because of one story.
Buddy’s story inspired Tracy.
Tracy opened her home to Donut.
Later she welcomed Mimi Dolly Guli into her family.
Her compassion extended beyond her own home as she continued feeding and caring for stray cats in her neighbourhood.
Her family, too, opened their hearts and their home, making room for rescued cats who otherwise might never have experienced family life.
That is the ripple effect of compassion.
One story touched one heart.
One compassionate decision changed many lives.
A rescued cat found a home.
Another rescued cat found a family.
Stray cats found someone who cared enough to feed them.
A first-time adopter discovered the confidence to become an experienced caregiver.
A family opened both their home and their hearts to rescued cats.
And perhaps, through stories like these, others will discover that they too can make a difference.
This is how lasting change begins.
Not through grand campaigns.
Not through slogans.
But through one story that inspires one person to take the first step.
One bowl of food.
One act of kindness.
One decision to foster.
One decision to adopt.
One person encouraging another.
The ripples continue to spread.
That is the hope behind every story CatsHope™ shares.
Because every life touched by compassion has the potential to touch many more.
