Pawtection Day: Pets, People and a Community That Cares
Woodlands Community Club
Pawtection Day on 15 August 2026 brought together pets, their owners, educators and businesses for a day of discovery and shared affection for animals. Around the hall and entrance area, visitors browsed stalls, met cats and dogs, and explored different aspects of responsible pet care.
Encounters to Remember
The animals provided some of the day’s most memorable sights. A group of cats rested together in a stroller, nestled against one another, while a fluffy, blue-eyed dog attracted attention from visitors. Elsewhere, people paused beside pet carriers and strollers, taking photographs and meeting the animals.
These encounters gave the event a personal warmth, alongside its displays and activities.

Around the Stalls
There was plenty to explore for both pets and the people who care for them. Paw Treats displayed packets and jars of dehydrated pet treats, while 年年 PAWPAW presented fresh pet food. Sniff N Paw offered a selection of pet food and everyday supplies.
For visitors drawn to cat-themed gifts, The Kyat Parade displayed colourful stickers, pins, phone charms and other small accessories. Nearby displays of pet clothing, toys and scratching posts added to the variety.

Portraits and Photo Memories
Portraits by Izzy and the Pawtograph photobooth added to the day’s festivities, offering visitors ways to remember their time at Pawtection Day. Alongside the stalls and animal encounters, portraits and photo keepsakes brought another personal touch to the event.
At Pawtograph, visitors could choose a layout and frame for their photographs and collect printed photo strips—a souvenir of a day spent celebrating their pets.
At Portraits by Izzy, visitors could book an appointment for a creative graphite portrait of their beloved fur babies—a personal keepsake celebrating their pets.

Pet Health, Grooming and Home Care
Practical care also had a place. Just Meow promoted cat grooming and nail clipping, with a sign emphasising gentle, patient handling at the cat’s own pace.
A veterinarian from Mount Pleasant was also present at Pawtection Day, adding a professional dimension to the event’s focus on animal care.
Ristoire displayed information about retractable window mesh, including its pet-friendly range—bringing attention to the home environment as part of caring for animals. Securing windows is an important part of keeping cats safe at home. Pet owners must take reasonable steps to prevent falls from height, using suitable protection such as mesh, grilles or other barriers.

Small Lessons in Kindness
Little Footprints Preschool brought pet care within reach of the youngest visitors. Its stall featured animal puppets, soft toys and games, including “Feed the dog” and activities about what animals eat.
The playful display helped toddlers learn to appreciate life and care responsibly for pets. With animal names shown in English and Chinese, it also connected language learning with familiar acts of care.
The preschool’s brochure describes an emphasis on care, respect and learning through experience. At Pawtection Day, those ideas took a practical form through its pet-themed activities.

Giving Adoption a Voice
Evergreen Secondary School’s colourful, student-made boards carried a clear message: “Adopt, Don’t Buy.” Their displays encouraged visitors to consider giving an animal a home and outlined steps such as researching, preparing and applying before welcoming a pet.
Alongside the enjoyment of meeting animals, these displays invited visitors to think about the commitment that comes with caring for one.

More than a Day Out
Pawtection Day offered opportunities to shop, learn and enjoy meeting animals. Its range of stalls also showed how many people have a part in responsible pet care—from families and educators to grooming providers, businesses and community groups.
The photographs capture that variety: cats resting in a stroller, visitors greeting dogs, stalls filled with products, and simple games introducing children to kindness towards animals.
Cute Companions
Pawtection Day brought neighbours together through a shared love of animals. From meeting pets and browsing stalls to learning about everyday care, visitors had plenty to enjoy and take home from the experience. The furry companions pictured here capture some of the warmth that made the day memorable.

Organiser’s Comment – Zuraidah (Ida), Lead Organiser of Pawtection Day – All Pets Edition
Pawtection Day reminds us that responsible pet ownership is a shared community responsibility. Every conversation and every small act of kindness towards an animal can make a difference.
Our hope is to bring people together to learn about animal care and build a community where animals are treated with compassion and respect. Seeing families, children, volunteers, pet businesses and community partners come together is what makes Pawtection Day meaningful.
We hope this is only the beginning. We want Pawtection Day to continue connecting people, supporting animal welfare and encouraging kindness towards every animal in our community.
