Born: November 2018 (estimated)

Date of Arrival: 5th November 2019, aged about one year

Horoscope: Sagittarius

Character: Loving, active and an accomplished jumper. Formerly the sanctuary nurse, Angel gave gentle back massages to Mimi and Tara. Since her ankle injury, she has become more cautious about cats jumping around her. She remains affectionate and active, but may issue a firm snarl meaning, “Back off!”

Quirks: She greets you with a head nod, as if to say, “What’s up, Doc?” and says “Elle?”

Favourite Games: Soccer, chasing the fluffy ball and pursuing the legendary red squirrel. A former parkour champion and still an accomplished high jumper.

Special Charm: Amazing white fur, long legs and a long tail, with glassy blue eyes. She sings, she dances, she massages. She talks to birds, insects and everybody—and will roll over for a tummy rub.

Role at CatsHope™: One of the three original permanent residents of the CatsHope™ Sanctuary. Together with Mimi and Tara, she is known as one of the Three Bosses—or the Three Whities. The Other Other Boss, retired Sanctuary Nurse, retired Soprano and Keeper of Ancient Cat Knowledge.

CELESTIAL CAT-DRAGON IDENTITY

Celestial Lineage: Bai Ze House: Griffin   Within the Celestial Cat-Dragons of CatsHope™, Angel appears as a white guardian inspired by Bai Ze, of House Griffin. Her celestial counterpart is the Keeper of Ancient Cat Knowledge: watchful, strong and protective. The former sanctuary nurse still has a greeting for familiar faces—and a firm opinion about anyone jumping too close.

About Angel

Arrival

Angel joined CatsHope™ on 5th November 2019, when she was about a year old. She had been living near a bus stop without a regular feeder, surviving on whatever she could find—even leaves. She was believed to have been abandoned nearby.

Bite wounds marked her body, neck and face. She had survived outside, but she needed a safe place, care and time to recover.

Early days

For about eight months, Angel lived mainly in a protected space while her wounds healed and her digestion settled. She came out for short periods, with introductions to the other cats taking place gradually.

Tara initially reacted by attacking her, so introductions took time. Over time, Tara became the first to accept her; Mimi needed longer. Belonging took patience on all sides.

Meanwhile, Angel found pleasure in her hammock, sunbathing, swinging and trilling to herself. As she settled in, she began giving Mimi and Tara gentle back massages—the beginnings of her much-loved role as sanctuary nurse.

Personality

Angel is curious, affectionate and expressive. Birds, insects and the people around her all attract her attention. She greets familiar faces with a little head nod and a questioning “Elle?”, and will roll over for a tummy rub. Her songs and back massages are treasured memories of her earlier sanctuary days.

Catitude

The Other Other Boss is loving, active and clear about her boundaries. Since her ankle injury, Angel can become nervous when other cats jump around her, worried that they might hurt her foot. A firm snarl tells them to give her room.

Appearance

Angel’s amazing white fur, glassy blue eyes, long legs and long tail make her instantly recognisable. She has the look of a Turkish Angora, with a slender, graceful frame. Her shape has softened a little over the years, but she remains an active cat with a striking presence.

Her role at CatsHope™

Together with Mimi and Tara, Angel is one of the three original permanent residents of the CatsHope™ Sanctuary—the Three Bosses, or Three Whities. Her story gives a face to cats whose need for help can go unnoticed, and to families facing sudden veterinary costs. She is part of why emergency help matters to CatsHope™.

Life today

Angel’s fall required two surgeries and many months of recovery. She no longer trills and sings or gives the back massages we remember. She is still a loving, active cat who plays, enjoys affection and takes an interest in the life around her. Her caution around cats jumping near her comes from worry about her foot being hurt. She remains a much-loved member of our family—and one of the bosses.

Angel— Nature’s Child

She did not begin life outside.
She was left there—
near familiar homes,
beneath passing windows,
in a place where life moved on
without her.
